Is there a mathematician in the house? Q: Can you think of a good anagram for "Banach-Tarski" ? A: It's "Banach-Tarski Banach-Tarski" ... (explanation here , for the non-mathematical but curious)

That paridox yoke is a bitteen unsphere fer sure and put me little hed in a right spin alltagather - I'm still only on me 3 times tables, ya know. Two fer the price a one, ya say? Can ya multiply the 2 then ta get 2 more and so on?

It reminds me of what a wise man sed ta a even wiser one - ya can never step inta the same streem once, and he ended up getten drownded by the first fella - or somethin like that, or mabee it was sphered he was somewhere in the paridoxes. Or should that be the paridoxii?

Anyways, have a nice Christmas and keep an eye out fer me quiz what I'll be posted soon.

Well, GT, if you're not confused you don't understand what's going on.

Ok, Gallant Ted and Faldage, if you two promise that you are confused then I'll explain what Wofdoc has said about language and math. Wofdoc said that mathemetical calculations are very much a language that we use to describe the World around us. And like the language of words the language of mathematics can be constructed to investigate the most hypothetical of events. But sadly, darn it, except for the most rudimentary of procedures, the more hypothetical the goal the more manipulations of symbols and numbers are necessary to obtain a congruency of sorts. Even so oft times this congruency, no matter how contrived, is offered as a "proof". But the math we use today didn't originate the Universe.

Great Milo! You done is taught gramma to suck eggs! Now you wanna teach her how to lay one?
I understand the joke behind wofa's so-called pun and I'd lay odds GT does, too. But do you understand how to get the bogo on the spheres?

Howya Faldage
So it's odds yer layen now, is it? And yet ya admit that yer granny can't even lay a egg.

A course, if the odds what yer layen is even and spherelike, then hypetically ya'll be layen there fer yonks ta come.

Which can only beg the hypeticall question, if all eggs was sphericall how would that have changed the face a history, literiture and the job discription a alla the King's horses and men. Not ta mention taday's non-existint homeless egg crisis. I mean, would Humpty Dumpty have just rotated, translated and reassembled before they all went ta find a good home themselves.

Is me brain confused? By now it's well and truly scambled. Good thing fer me, me hypeticall bogglen brain cells is sphere-shaped.

Trickier, though, are mathematical excursions into infinity.
Take one infinity for example; double it, and then multiply it by seven less the number of hookers in Reno and go fish...and your product we still be only one infinity. But not finally. It is also true that you also have an infinite number of infinities. Go figure.

Ah, me. Didn't mean to open a can of worms.
"Infinity" is not a number, and cannot always be manipulated as everyday numbers can. Sometimes this leads to conclusions that sound counter-intuitive; common sense learned from numbers does not always apply.

Long and loud and contentious arguments all to often are based on the unhappy fact that the parties are not defining the term the same way.

Onward! Look at the original self-referential wordplay and smile. Next factoid, please.
