Years ago, in grad school, a fellow engineering student had some experimental data which, when plotted, were loosely parallel and criss crossing. He came to our office asking what the term was for such lines. My office mate was recognized for his vocabulary and I was a math grad. We looked at each other and immedietly said;

"A pride of lines"
