anyway, applying these, and also considering a comment in the voting thread regarding Too Much Information, I arrived, as I mentioned in the event, at the choice of C or H. in fact, I was just about to pull the trigger on H when it struck me that not even the OED uses an obvious Brit. spelling such as "specialised" within their definitions!
