It was interesting to read that Garborg was a proponent of Landsmål (today called Nynorsk) instead of Bokomål as the literary Norwegian language. (That's right, Norway has two competing standard languages.) When I looked on the Norwegikan Wikipedia to see if the quotation was there, of course I went to the wrong version (the Nynorsk one). Too funny. Maybe I should try to translate it into Esperanto, Ido, or Volapük to tickle the wrath of the Esperantista in the other thread with his Google Alerts.

Pengar, no doubt, is cognate with penny. I know a little Danish, and ikkje just looks wrong. wink It should be ikke.
