OP At least that's what http://www.freerice.com says. When I got to that word, I did not think any of the options were likely, and went with "hat-maker" thinking it was a typo for milliner. After it said "metric ton", I checked the OED online, and it offered onlyQuote:

Does anyone have source for miller as "metric ton"?
