or you could be looking for re-frame.
'framing' is a now a popular word (but i known and used it over 10 years.. i active try to practice a positive reframe.
sometimes, when we recall a conversation, we can learn to 'hear' the same words, but re hear the meaning behind them.
--i remember once, having a guy say 'you're looking particularly nice today' and it was clear he was insulting me.. the way he emphisized words, it made it clear he was surprize i ever looked nice..
only guy once commented on my fat ass.. and this was one of the nicest compliments i ever recieved..
there is so much to word, and language, as we replay a conversation over and over again, the words can change meaning right before our eyes. (and ears)
