OP "Telegraph" is still a word of some utility, albeit less than it was when it was used to describe communication by dots and dashes. A person playing a sport is sometimes described as telegraphing when she/he does something which gives a prior indication of how she/he is about to move, e.g. "The fighter would have been more effective with the left hook had he not telegraphed it every time he threw it."
