Is eluct related to elude?
Well, the e part is. But not really: elude < eludo, eludere, elusi, elusum est '(lit.) to finish play; to elude or parry another's blow' (< ludo 'to play'); eluct < elector, eluctari, eluctatum 'to struggle out of' (< luctor 'to wrestle').
