OP Something reminded me of "Believe IT of Not" cartoon by
Ripley, many years ago, of an Olympic contestant, wearing
ancient version of brass knuckles used in an event combinging boxing and wrestling: the pancratium. I think
Ripley spelled it "pankratium".
