OP As soon as I read this post, there started up in my head,
"I've got rhythm, I've got music .....".
What do y'all make of that usage?
I think Gershwin can do whatever he wants (wanted). Actually, if you look at the entire lyrics he uses both "I got" and "I've got" in the song.
One of my favorites is:
"I've got you under my skin
I've got you deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart
You're nearly a part of me
I've got you under my skin..."
Great romantic dance song...if memory serves. *sigh*
