There's lots of good phobia words - I'm sure they've been done to death here in the past.

How about this one....(with tongue firmly in cheek)

Xylophataquieopiaphobia - the fear of not pronouncing words correctly.

What?! That reminds me of my favorite of Anu's weekly themes: words that go out of their way to contradict themselves.

that reminds me that you can tack -phobia on the back of any noun, even one you make up for the occasion.

---

OED2 lists 105 phobias (plus several additional examples under -phobia), W3 has 62
-joe (I have phobophobia) friday

Dear Stales: if you can say it, you ain't got it. I think the "xylo" was composition of the
head of whoever coined that one. It just don't look right to me. I looked at the five sites
that used it, and none of them attempted to identify the roots. To put it gently, I think it
is a faulty fabrication.

So what's the problem here? It's pronounced just like it's spelled.

Dear Stales: I did not wish to rain on your parade. It's just that there ought to be an
acceptable word for "fear of pronouncing incorrectly" . I have it in a mild way.
I found a very long list of phobias, but many of them appear dubious, if for no other
reason than mixing Latin and Greek:
http://www.phobialist.com/index.html

I tried constructing a word for it from Greek dictionary. pronounce = profero, or diloxio
I chose "diloxo"
So I suggest "kakodiloxiophobia" - comments invited
