You want to quote a text somebody here has written. And you want it to appear with those lines above and below it. It has a very neat, polished look to it.

I don't know how to do it. I mean, I can make lines around a quote:

______________________________________________

...And space in like this...
______________________________________________

And add a bottom line, but I can't do the line thing that most of you know how to do.

If it's not too complicated, would someone please tell me (and us) how to form that quote block appearance?

A little laborious for the weekend,
WW

Yo, Dub-Dub, you put the word "quote" in square brackets [ ] at the beginning of the text and then [/quote] at the end. Thassall.

T,

Between you & moi, what CapK told you is true (for swooth, when have you ever seen *that man lie?) but, for your same nickel, you could also consult the "how do I use markup in my posts?" or its equivalent at outposts elsewhere.

Thanks, AnnaS. I found the link with a little searching.

I'm now going to try the
and slash [pre] to see what happens.

I don't know what "pre" means, so this should be interesting.

[pre]Here goes

Wonder what'll happen?

Now all I can figure out is by typing in [pre] and then typing in slash-pre [in box] is you change the font midstream. Why would you want to do that?

(Sorry to be working at this elementary level, but if you knew what I'd been doing all day, you'd really have pity on the mental state in which I find myself now.)

Best regards,
WW

wendy, 'pre' is HTML-speak for preformat; it allows you to break out of the rigid formatting imposed by browser standards and (basically) arrange things on the screen the way you want them,
                   like
this.

unfortunately, this has the side-effect of also removing your standard font settings.

p.s. - with the limited markup features that we have within this application, there doesn't seem to be any way around this; whereas with full-blown HTML you can make the font consistent.

WW
