YUCK - A typical ejaculation* when confronted with something disgusting. Also, "ewwwwww."

Are these onomatopoeic? What terms do other cultures and languages usually use?

Dear Sparteye: Doesn't "Yuck" sound a little like vomiting? And the "Eeeew" is always said with a disappproving tone and expression.

[vomit color]Are these onomatopoeic?[/vomit color]

I've long thought that "RALPH" was, but I can't hear the onomatopaea in 'YUCK" or "Eeeewwww," though the latter does sound similar to the sound of air escaping from one's lungs as an involuntary reaction to revulsion. Didn't we have a thread on all the different uh - ewwwwphamisms - for reverse peristalsis?

PBS- commercial arm, their stores and catalogs has a great T-Shirt, (which i can just barely remember) for Ralph's Bait and Sushi shop-- It's not clear if left over bait is sushi, or left over sushi is chum.. but one gets the impression Bait came first!
I'll go look and see if i can find a link to it it.
