This has been sitting in my mailbox, waiting to be opened, amid all the other correspondence of the day. Something from a friend...and so timely I was amazed....like a breath of fresh air.

A friend shared this with me today:
The story is told that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey, one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, he wrote in the sand: "Today my best friend slapped me in the face."
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: "Today my best friend saved my life."
The friend, who had slapped and saved his best friend asked, "after I hurt you, you wrote in the sand, and now you write on a stone. Why?"
The other friend replied, "when someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand, where the winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone, where no wind can ever erase it."
Learn to write your hurts in the sand, and to carve your blessings in stone.

This old curmudgeon says that anybody who would bathe in a desert oasis ought to have something very unpleasant happen to him. That water is for drinking only.

Dear wwh,
You have the cutest sense of humor!
About Whit's and Angel's stories: Those are great ones! Hope I'll remember 'em!
Just a little take on this topic: I do hold dear the line (the lyric? the lyrics?) from "Home on the Range":
"Where seldom is heard a discouraging word..."
and think that's a pretty good group of words to live by.
Best regards, WordWakened Drat! Signed on as Orion! This is what comes of waking up at 3:00 in the morning!

is our love - etched in stone or just scratched in the sand waiting for the waves to come and reclaim the land?
