Dittography: Now there's a word that outdoes tsuwm's wwftd's.Calligraphers, never numerous, are now close to extinction. So only by its rarity does "dittography" deserve to exist. Ancient scribes working on vellum had the advantage that the substrate was almost indestructible, unlike modern paper. Perhaps modern technology has advanced in the matter of making erasures invisible, and an unplanned duplication of characters no longer a tragedy, but only a minor annoyance.
eet. I was surprised to find quite a few sites on the Internet that mentioned Mimeography and Ditto. Regrettably none of them seemed worth citing here.
It's even been a long time since I heard anybody say "ditto" in a restaurant, meaning "I want the same thing."
And I rejoice that this word processing computer makes not only unwanted "dittoes" but all kinds to typographical errors so readily correctable and invisible.
If this rambling annoys you, make more posts, to give me something better to do.
I have deliberately used a technical term in a sense not supported by the dictionary. See if you can find it.

Just the other day I accidentally posted the same message twice. Dittography in that modern form may not be so rare.

Dunno' about that Bill, there are two in the yellow pages for our little Seacoast area!
Don't both The White House and Buckingham Palace have calligraphers on staff?
