A March Hog needs no cleaning. Springtime hogs want to be out on an adventure. Not hot tubs, but a dig in de porridge trough and a roll in the mud. Earthy definitions..... you can dig your burrow down to the deepest essence, muffle a word, plant a tree, climb a mountain, fill up a hole in the the road and have a sturdy meal or a stout drink. Build your Chapel.
......................Pick and choose and beware of quicksands.
*Voting till Monday 21. Open to submitters, subscribers, invisibles, guests and spiders.*

I'll take d) a geological land feature formed by an oceanic eddy; when the sea level recedes the depression left behind is termed a grough, if I may.

Have a tumbler or two of the definition c)(pron.grog) and all your pains will be forsaken. All submitters + one hogmaster have voted. (good of you) I don't expect a wild bunch of random voters will add much to it, so in the weekend I will set the Hog free with blessings to go wherever the long and muddy road will take'm.

Very difficult to decide.
I used to eat the New Jersey version of a) after work, in my early 20s, when I worked 3rd shift; Ballantine Ale over Cap'n Crunch. I might have had a glass of c)-like liquid later in the day when the sun was over the yardarm.
However, I think it's i).

Are the polls officially closed yet? Because I want to say what I would have voted for if it hadn't been for...

The fact that you knew the answer? Fire away. Not closed yet. You may even change if your reason is valid.

Nope. I don't know the definition. I'm not going to say anything until the polls are closed. I don't want to deter anyone from voting for an otherwise fine definition.

heh. blame it on Bran's (olde?) dictionary.
grough [grʌf] n (Earth Sciences / Physical Geography) Mountaineering a natural channel or fissure in a peat moor; a peat hag [possibly the same as grough, an obsolete variant of gruff in the obsolete sense: "rough" (of terrain)]

Thank you for your patience. And thanks for letting me know 'timely'. I must have had a blind spot for that syllable. Can I offer an extra point to Faldage for detecting the error (even though points don't matter ?) ( I think I need glasses)
