lots of snow (more than a foot, at least), lots of wind. big drifts. might last several hours, or even days.

And, if you live in the Plains, not melt for months.

"Never seen one. Never been in one," she says happy with her sleeveless shirts. Snow pictures are fascinating though. So black and white! (Bran's too) I don't know why they fascinate. I wonder whether real life is as terrific and terrifying as the picture. Strangely, I don't want to find out.

at least 15" with 20mph winds - you really gotta stop traffic until the plows get out.

...and don't forget the thousands of travelers trying to get home when the planes, buses and trains stop.

No, you don't.
It may be pretty, but try shoveling, you'll have a different
song.

Blizzard; snowstorm of a fine type of snowflake that blinds eyesight and buries everything under mountains of snow in no time.

Ohh...three inches or more, with some wind. There has to be wind; if the flakes just fall straight down it's not a blizzard.

3 inches?? we don't even bother shoveling 3 inches - just leave it for the next time.

It is a violation of city code if one does not shovel
snow within 24 hours of the end of the snowfall. And you
can be reported and the city will shovel it and charge you.
If someone falls and hurts themselves they can sue you
for damages. We are such an enlightened city.

Yeah, I was! I thought all you Northerners would get a laugh at someone saying 3" is a blizzard. We do, occasionally, get more than 3 inches falling straight down; less often than once a year, on average, though.

Edit: today we had a high of 68ºF (20ºC). mad mad mad
