Anu speaks of adverbs. In listening to the media these days adverbs are on the way out. "She ran out of the room angrily" and the like, have become: "She ran out angry". the -ly is rapidly disappearing. Watch for it.

Hmm. To me there seems to be a subtle difference between (1a) and (1b):
1a. She ran out of the room angry. 1b. She ran out of the room angrily.
Which may be paraphrased as in (2a) and (2b):
2a. She ran our of the room while she was angry. 2b. She ran out of the room in an angry manner.
Ceci n'est pas un seing.

Another example is
1) Shop local. 2) Shop locally.
I can go down to the local Mall*Wart and buy a giant lawn Santa Claus that was made in China and I would be shopping locally. If I go to the Only In Ithaca store on the Commons and buy a lawn elf that was made by a guy in a workshop over on S. Corn I would be shopping local.
