I just spent the better part of an hour composing a brief but thoughtful followup to a contributor's thread. Then when I clicked on "continue," my followup was deleted. Conclusion: Don't be too thoughtful
Admin, I respectfully suggest that when performing next housekeeping, you correct this deficiency in your algorithm
Otherwise thank you for AWAD and blessings on its participants

many users compose their replies in another program, such as Notepad, and then paste it in, so as to not suffer what seems to happen to you so frequently.

dale, I've had this happen so often that I have trained myself to "/select all/copy" anything I type before moving/clicking onward. This has also become a lifesaving habit for me whilst using other programs as well.

I heartily concur with those two suggestions, Dale - from bitter experience I've learned to switch to a text edit program for any post longer than a line or two. What's more I save that open page as a temporary worksheet, hitting control/s every line or two as a habit; then copy n paste it into the diealot box. Meanwhile, here's a haiku to console you in your moment of bereavement: You step in the stream But the water has moved on. This page is not here.

You mean, that's all you have to do, to save what you've been typing?! The only way I've ever known to do it is to open the Edit file, then either highlight what I want or hit Select All, and then Copy. How do you get it back, if it disappears? Paste? Does it save everything automatically? Also--what if I type lines 1 and 2, hit control/s, then hit it again after lines 3 & 4--will it lose the first two like Copy does, or does it just add 3 & 4 on to what it's saved so far?
Edit--I should say, a good friend showed me about control/c and /v, but that still involves highlighting. Gosh, that Ctrl button's pretty important, isn't it?

control-s would only work (in this case) in a text edit program, not here at the forum.

Hi J, yes ~ but only if you're in a Windows program like a word processor, I think. So to make it more explicit, I would: 1. Open a new window of Word 2. Save it immediately with a temp filename like AWAD 3. Type my post 4. Hit Control/S whenever I felt like building a new saved version 5. Hit Control/A to select all the text when done editing 6. Hit Control/C to copy that highlighted selection 7. Hit Alt/Tab to return to the message board diealot box and place the cursor in the text entry field 8. Hit Control/V to paste the text in to the box
Viola. It sounds more trouble than it is when you routinely use the key strokes.
edit: uh, well these work across the whole M$ suite AFAIK, not just the word processors.

> only if you're in a Windows program
and are basically the same on a mac, except, it's the apple key, rather than control. (though I believe they occupy the same location on the keyboard)
