OP we've had lots of discussions in the dim, dark past regarding words for male- and female-specific activities. one such was the male version of a feminist (which came up during a 'chauvinism' thread); suggestions included malist and masculinist. so, fwiw, I submit:
the worthless word for the day is: hominist
someone who advocates equal rights for men
coined by G.B. Shaw in the preface to "Man and Superman" (1903)
If you had not given the definition, I would have supposed it was someone who dined exclusively on hominy, or who was engaged in homiletics. Hommm.....
...dined exclusively on hominy...
Ohmigawd! Ow, Bob, you're making my stomach hurt from laughing so hard! Actually, my first mental leap was picturing a rabid murderer of males only...

cf. wife
Sounds to me like one who studies bipeds...
i don't know how wives fare down under-- but statistics in US show that longevity increases for males once they marry, and decreased for females.
So the longest lived populations is
Never married women
followed by
women married less than 20 years
women married more than 20 years
men marrid more than 20 years
men married less than 20 years
unmarried men.
Every day an american wife stays married after 20 years, she is giving up some of her live expectantcy to her husband..
Now maybe you Ozzie's and Zild's are kinder to your spouses... but your post doesn't indicate it.
You should get down on your knees and kiss her feet this very minute!! and not just her feet, the very ground she walks upon.. and not just today-- everyday! (do it often enough, and she might be willing to forgo a year or two of life..and if you tell her you got the idea at AWAD-- she might give up the idea you're wasting time on the computer! )
The very idea! we little women work our fingers to the bone, bear your children, and you insult us!
Of course men can have equality with women--once they are equal to it!
all said in good spirit--but really you should kiss her feet every once in a while...
Tsuwm recalls: malist and masculinist as male counterparts to feminist.
Masculinist has one syllable too many. The counterpart of feminist (Note: not femininist) should be masculist.
As for hominist, since the Latin homo meant, at least nominally, human being irrespective of sex, it should mean someone who advocates equal rights for human beings. This would suggest virist for the male version of feminist.
OP >Masculinist has one syllable too many. The counterpart of feminist (Note: not femininist)

that's as may be; but masculinist has made it into the dictionary(s) -- not as the opposite of feminist, however, but as an advocate of male *supremacy -- more like Limbaugh's feminazi, I suppose. (which is why it was rejected during our earlier discussion)
In reply to:Virist for the male version of feminist
This might mean that the proper study of virists is virology, but that make problems, since we already have viruses (viri?) to complicate things.
In reply to:viruses (viri?)
We've already been innoculated against this particular problem:
