Posts: 1 This word gives many Americans a headache with its pronunciation and spelling. My favorite of the latter used to be advertised by a local motel bar/restaurant: "Every day 5 to 7: Hour Dovers".

Posts: 1 It caught me on my blindside that the plural is added to the hors, so one doesn't have to add an "s" to the oeuvre. (As in crepes suzette).

Posts: 1 There is a children's book called "Family Sabbatical" in which a family travels in Europe. There are a few good mis-translations, including hors d'oeuvres meaning 'various horses hooves'.
