Sorry, but that makes no sense - VSOP is a designation for certain cognacs, and at least some armagnacs. So, one cannot say that one prefers cognac to VSOP, as if the two were mutually exclusive, since many cognacs are VSOP.

I've had an excellent cognac with VSOP on the label--and a sketch of Napolean, I think...or was that a brandy? Oh, geez. I guess I had too much to remember. Ah! It was Courvoisier. Is that a cognac? Whatever it was, it was wonderful.
