When Anu sent out an AWADmail a week or two back it included a rather po-faced email from a Global Brand Manager at the Gallup poll organisation. I forgot to post this here, in addition to sending to Anu (he chuckled!) ~ but even if no longer very topical, knowing how much some of us love poetisers I thought I'd better drop it in for your delectation ;)
It’s a Global Brand Manager’s nark That Gallup®’s a registered mark Shall we take a quick poll ~ A: assign him a hole? B: just leave him alone in the dark?

Pretty good, Mav. For one thing, it scans! Refreshing change.

I am relieved to learn that you don't have anything against "poesy" or limericks in general, ASp.
I will take instruction from Maverick's very clever, not to mention perfectly scanable limerick in the hope that one of mine might win your favor in the future.

--- and yours as well, etaoin.
For those newcomers who might be confused, etaoin's censure was not directed at Maverick's limerick.
I apologize for the distraction, Maverick. It does not do justice to your talent.

"Assign him a hole...", said the Carpie Whose behavior the rest of us copy "You're paranoid to think That a Carpie could sink So low. Twat's the matter, Plutarchi?"
How does that scan, I wonder? :)

of limericks, i've written my share, some bad, some middling, some fair Good meter, good rhymes, quite witty at times their quality, i let others declare!
I could, my wit, proclaim far and wide and demand others to puff up my pride but i treasure most, not my own boast, but success, when after time after time i've tried!

Listen up boys, I was at the library yesterday and saw a new book commemorating the tragedy of 911. I leafed through it half expecting Of troy's poem to be among the others there. It wasn't. What a shame. The poem Helen wrote at that sad time more clearly said what could have be said than any other words I have ever seen on paper. Brilliant.
