And what's wrong with prepone? It's straight from the Latin praepono, -posui, -positus, ere, to place in front.

I looked at your thread, Jackie, and the onliest one I saw agreed to anything of the sort was Rhuby, and he din't even agree with hisownse'f. If anything, clearing up the confusion inherent in 'move forward' and 'move back' is argument enough for the need for the word.

Would it make you happier to know that Hindi would use prepone with postpositions?

Yep, but then since they are the inverse of prepositions the question should really be, is it OK to start a sentence with one.
AFAIK, it is impossible to do so.

Given that the whole 'ending a sentence with a prepostion' thing had its genesis in the confusion of prepositions with particles of phrasal verbs (as these English analogs of the German separable prefix have come to be known), is there a grammatical category that corresponds to phrasal verb particles in languages that use postpositions?
