#124492 - 03/03/04 09:38 PM nostrum
There have been posts about this but over a year ago,
so perhaps a repeat is permissible.

herb garden's description mentions:
"One nostrum was called the Indian remedy, and its price was but fifteen cents;...."
A "nostrum" was "our" secret recipe for a privately made
medication, usually containing several ingredients.
