Surprised to see 'triolet' and 'rondeau' listed consecutively in a quote; to students of fifteenth century music (Binchois, Dufay) they are identical: ABaA abAB. A form dating back to the 11th and 12th century Troubadours and Trouvères

Reminded me of an odd little poem:

Tough Triolet
(for David Mason)

I had to get tough with Sally Finch.
I told her where to go,
Stood firm and didn't give an inch -
I had to get tough with Sally Finch.
And was it difficult? A cinch.
Just kept on saying 'No'.
I had to get tough with Sally Finch.
I told her where to go.

Wendy Cope

I know nothing about it, don't know who David Mason is, but it sounds like there's a story behind it.

Ed.: Good to see one of your rare appearances, Recumbentman!
