It was designed to withstand a nuclear blast as powerful as the one used on the Japanese city of Hiroshima 200 metres (165 ft) away, and also to survive temperatures of 300 C (570 F)

The above excerpt from tonight story in BBC news a[[ears tp sau
200 meters is 165 feet.

According to my fourbanger, 200times 39.37 divided by 12
equals 656.16 feet

I confess I can't convert meters to feet in my head. Can you?

The 165 is wrong - if you use 1m = 3.25 as a rough guide you'll be neaer enough for ready reckoning
