Well, Madonna's Cherish mentions Romeo and Juliet; and I can't believe that people have forgotten Dire Straits' take on Romeo and Juliet, the name of which escapes me and I can't be bothered to look it up... I'm glad someone got to Led Zeppelin quick smart - there's also a couple more with references to LOTR.
Cream [Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker] has a song about Ulysses, but I must say it's always annoyed me, for one very specific reason: it talks about poor Ulysses, his ears tormented by the Sirens. Sorry! He deliberately left his ears unbound so that he could hear them and yet not die. So I have no sympathy!
