Great round all around! I went with the mushroom cap because I knew hypha was part of a mushroom. So good bluff, Brandon! Here's the def from Webster's Collegiate:
hypha n. plural hyphae [NL, fr. Gk hypheŻ web; akin to Gk hyphos web -- more at WEAVE] : one of the threads that make up the mycelium of a fungus, increase by apical growth, and are coenocytic or transversely septate -- hyphal adj.
