They all work but they all pretty much say that drinking coffee and reading the newspaper are things that Sam does at the same time and if he is doing one he will also be doing the other.


Edit: I take that back. 1 and 4 imply that Sam will always read the newspaper when he is drinking coffee, but not that he will necessarily drink coffee when he is reading the newspaper. 2 and 3 work the other way around, that is, when he is reading the newspaper he will drink coffee but he won't necessarily read the newspaper when he is drinking coffee.
