I've always wondered how they came up with traditional names like "Sparky", "Rex" and "Max".

Being fonder of cats than of dogs, I am delighted that a Google on my handle reveals the following magnificent specimen: http://www.catassociation.com/winners.htm

I know it's not what you were referring to. but I rather like 'anyone travailing from infected areas'...

My partner's family until recently had a long-haired grey, who looked much like Potato, whose name was Chairman Mao (I understand mao is "cat" in Mandarin - confirmation of this anyone?).
Mao (Chairman, literally 'hair' or 'fur') and mao (cat) are homonyms written with different characters. THe panda is literaly a 'xiongmao' or 'bear-cat'.

something i read about housecats last night made me laugh out loud, and was obviously stated by a caninophile:
"They are miniature predators; if they were big enough, they would eat you."
Food for thought
A couple I know have spent their idle Sunday mornings wondering the following: if they both died at home, and no one knew, how long would it be before their cats ate their bodies?
This same couple also had their grave stones figured out. His would say "Look at me! Look at me!" Hers would say "What are you looking at?"

Dear jimthedogII: thanks for teaching me a new word. Not sure when I will get a chance to use it, since I would not be so unkind as to tell anybody their post was rebarbative. Certainly your informative post could not be so characterized
