I just got a book out of the library; it's a new version of a James Bond thriller: Carte Blanche by Jeffery Deaver. I realize I'm revealing my abysmal knowledge of history, but he mentions Churchill's Secret Army. Did that really exist, and was it the basis for Ms. Rowling's naming of Dumbledore's Secret Army?

[snort]! laugh

Okay, I've had time to do a speck of research: SOE. I did think Mr. C's group was real; guess I'd have to write Ms. R. to know for sure!

If I remember correctly, Dumbledore's Army, although secret, was not secret in name, just Dumbledore's Army.

I think you are correct, the army was secret, practiced in
the secret room.

Ah. Undoubtedly you're right. I've actually not read the books but only seen the first movies.

I've been down with a bug for several days, so I've started rereading the series as something that I can enjoy immensely without having to work. I think they're brilliant. And I like the movies, too.
