Prairie has connotations to me of desert not ocean. Stick with the vocab your target market will respond to - ie surfing things. I quite like barrel or barrel wear - sums up the perfect wave etc etc

Realizing the image is for a surf/clothing/apparatus store
and the importance of the name for attracting customers,
prairie to me is not the type of word for it. However the
people of the Prairie states: Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas,
Oklahoma don't see our beautiful grasslands as "desert".
Granted the area was once-upon-a-time called the
"Great American Desert", but desert to me is the Gobi or
Sahara or even Death Valley. With all the flooding out
here this spring, desert is a term far from everyone's mind.
