Re Alexander the Great surprising everyone by not throwing the harem out "to be raped by all and sundry"
It seems we have Alexander to thank for the phrase "Never on Sundry".

an extra helping of Eel Island pieAlas, they are no longer making Eel Island pie, etaoin, tho I understand they were all the rage while the eels were still running. "A watercolour by Thomas Rowlandson gives a flavour of leisure: various boats coming and going and visitors enjoying alfresco refreshment beneath the trees. The eel pies served were famous and led to the renaming of the island although with increased pollution the eel population declined and pies are no longer made." Re all the rage while the eels were still running. "Eels got legs?!"
Well, there must have been something about those eels off Eel Pie Island 'cause those pies were as popular as Chicken Pot pies.
