etymology of senile: The final part of old age is senility, senium, so called because it marks the end of the sixth age, sexta etas.

hmmm. Lewis and Short (the Latin dictionary on Perseus) derives senile from the noun senex, and senium from a verb, seneo, which in turn also derives from senex. Senex itself, they tell us, is cognate with the Sanskrit sanas, and the Greek henos, both meaning old. http://makeashorterlink.com/?P24162876Bingley
