[ha, gotcha back e] Whilst being taken to tourist spots in the Lake District of England, I saw a couple of shops that sported signs saying that that establishment was a stockist for certain brands. Although I got the meaning from the context, I had never seen that word before. Has anyone seen it in the U.S.--or anywhere else, for that matter? Meaning is obvious. Not in my dictionary. Reminds me of John Wayne movie in about 1948, in which his occupation was "shootist". Meraning he was a hired gun.Plot was he had cancer, and so was ready to die in a gunfight. When I searched in Yellow Pages, I found a listing for stockists.
