Condyloma acuminatum, condylomata acuminata, 'genital wart', caused by human papillomavirus. From Gk κονδυλωμα (kanduloma) 'knob, callous lump' fr. Gk κονδυλος (kondulos) 'knuckle'; fr PIE * ken- 'to compress, pinch; nip' many different roots augmented with other final consonants: * kneu-k-, * kneu-g-, OIr cnocc 'grave mound, barrow', OE hnocc 'penis'. Acuminatum, p ppl of acumino 'to sharpen, make a point' fr. acumen 'point; shrewdness' fr.
