logograph

(LO-guh-graf, LOG-uh-) Pronunciation Sound Clip

noun: A written symbol representing an entire spoken word without expressing its pronunciation; for example, for 4 read "four" in English, "quattro" in Italian. Also called ideogram, logogram.
