OP What about those words that we made up or borrowed from popular media and were once part of our lexicon? Like pakaloomer and brackerfritch. Did any survive? I used them on the east coast in the '60s. Did they make it to the west coast? Many were coined by MAD magazine's early contributors, before it's descent into mediocrity and blandness. Then there were the Pogo and Li'l Abner words and names. There must be some remnants somewhere!??!
