1. in NI2 (Merriam-Webster's New International Dictionary, Second Edition) oolly appears after the word oological and before oologist, not quite in alphabetical order
b. the word was dropped from W3 (as pointed out by wofa in the oolly thread), thereby alleviating this problem
Þ. WNTC (the poor-man's unabridged) defined oolly (properly collocated with oolitic and oological) thusly: a small mass of steel just taken from the crucible: applied especially to wootz steel [Ind.]
so, oolly is a subset, or precursor, of wootz?
