Whenever we asked my mother a question she didn't want to answer she would say, "It's crantantha (krantantha)."

My quick Google search yielded nothing. Has anyone ever come across this word? Does anyone have any idea of its origins? Did she make it up?

If it is of any help, she was second generation Irish-American.

Many thanks,
