The first time I saw this word was in TIME magazine perhaps thirty years ago. The Armed Forces
had procured machinegun bullets to use in; war games that on impact with a tank would do no or
very little damage because the simply shattered, and were described as "frangible". The story
went on to say that the enlisted men in their crap games urged the dice shooter to throw the
dice forcefully, because "they ain't frangible."
