I am suddenly highly skeptical regarding this whole "spontaneous" fish on bike thing that we have going on here; viz. http://www.fishonabike.com/sightings.htm

That's some mighty fine angling there, tsuwm. Love the site! I'm gonna E-mail the guy and invite him here.

(... and reserve your skepticism. Ater all, fire was spontaneously discovered at different times in different places )

I hope he got some shots of those prawns on bicycles at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics. Possibly the largest mass sighting to date of sea creatures on bicycles.

What, I wonder, is the collective noun for a group of fish on bicycles? Do we adopt the "school" of fish, "pack" of cyclists, combine them to form a "schoolpack" of cycling fish, or use an entirely different word? Now there's a challenge I'm sure won't go unanswered!

Hi Anna!

Are you talking about spontaneous human combustion?
Fascinating subject.

Damn, I didn't see the prawns Marty! Anybody out there know if any pix are online? Though I suppose they are a bit shellfish.

Is the collective noun for cyclists really a "pack"? That doesn't sound right at all. Far too efficient-sounding and predatory for all the cyclists I know. Something like a "meander" or a "wobble" would be better.

And what's the difference between a "school" and a "shoal"?

I'm sure answers won't be lacking for these questions, either.

OK, I don't talk about spontaneous human combustion and you don't talk about frying fish.

That's fRying fish, not fLying fish, which are wonderful creatures and no problem at all.

Unless they're flying into buckets of boiling fat, of course.

Bravo Anna, I am impressed. You say you will get Fish as a member and there he is a couple of posts later. Wouldn't want you showing up at my door to sell insurance.

Oh, and if I saw many fish go by on bikes I would probably call it a miracle .
