puricle

The space, Dr. Bill? Or the fold of skin? Actually®, I'm now curious to know if there are words for the skin folds between fingers (as we call the lip of skin on our fingernails the cuticle). And, if puricle is the term for the space formed, are there words for the spaces between the other fingers as well? Ditto toes?

I agree with W'ON. What exactly is this puricle space and how is it applied? It's actually a subject I would think possibly of interest to musicians. I have an extraordinarily small hand. (Take my word for it.) It's really kind of silly that I took up piano, but I loved the sound of the instrument. You would never think to look at my hands that these could play much. But I have natural flexibility so that when my hand stretches out, the distance between my little finger and end of the thumb easily covers a 9th and I can just about reach a 10th--but, alas, can't, so that keeps me from playing some chords (just make modifications). So, I'm wondering about this puricle--if it's the space measured, which space is it--and is there a word for the measurement between the other fingers--other relationships?

That's small? I can't quite reach a 9th.

I will note that there are some of us who wish they had a ninth to reach. Thank goodness the gutter police are on vacation.

wwh: I just checked puricle on Onelook and there was no entry.

What's your source for this word?

Just curious,
WW

I found it in several places, exact same wording, no hint as to origin or roots.
