From a practical usage standpoint (i.e. if used in sentences) what is the difference between shameless and shameful?

I'll give an example.
shameless = having no shame; without decency or modesty
The boy was shameless in the way he flaunted the stolen bicycle.

shameful = causing or deserving shame, scandalous
The way in which the boys had vandalised the school was shameful.

I hope that helps!

Hey there, doug1296. By the way, just how many Dougs are there in this here universe? I mean, you appear to be number 1296? Oh, all right, whatever, please enjoy the odd stuff we post here. And don't despair if people don't respond immediately. It's something to do with time zones and all that crap. You could perhaps talk to Doctor Who! But it doesn't matter, really.

I really must go now!

Rgds, lusy
