this too shall pass
the worthless word for the day is: quinzhee

[fr. Athabaskan koézhii, lit. ‘in the shelter’] also, quinzee
a snow shelter of a type originally used by N.A. Indians,
consisting of a mound of (settled) snow with a domed
chamber dug into it

"Don't forget to store your shovel inside the quinzee in case
there's a snowstorm.. and you have to dig yourself out."
- K. Callan, Happy Camper (2005)

"One of the new Canadian words creating excitement in
hardcore Scrabble circles -- "quinzhee," a shelter made by
hollowing out a pile of settled snow -- could give a player
a total of 401 points.. That’s a lot."
- National Post (canada.com), August 5, 2014

NB: 5,000 words added to "The Official Scrabble Players
Dictionary," out Aug. 11 from Merriam-Webster.

No need to be so esoteric! It's also a city slightly sorth of Boston (see here) and in medicine a peri-tonsillar abscess (see here).

(both pronounced "KWIN-zee")

... and no 400 points neither. I'll just have to use a blank and settle for QUIZZING.

yeah, I don't know where they came up with that total, unless they thought they were covering a triple letter score with the zed (plus two triple words, of course.)

[Inuit]
Greenland : kayak

"“The reaction of the American players when we
told them that we’re adding the word kayak but
spelled [“qajaq,”] with two Qs and a J, was
divided between outrage and glee.”"
