As a result of heavy traffic, his flight had left by the time he got to airport.

Is the sentence fine?

Thanks.

It makes it sound like his flight leaving on time was a result of the heavy traffic. Better you should say something like "As a result of heavy traffic he missed his flight, which left on schedule."
