By request. Not restricted to the Christian holiday only (per me).

From the Eastern time zone of the United States, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, which will begin just under 2½ hours from now. Also Happy Hanukkah, Winter/Summer Solstice, Sunday, or day-off-from-work day.

And don't forget your poems!

Second day of Christmas.

'Eyes open to praise
The play of the light
Upon the ceiling -
While still abed raise
The roof this morning
Rejoice as you please
Your Maker who made
This day while you slept,
Who gives grace and ease,
Whose promise is kept.'

No matter what an individual believes about God or no God one can be thankful living in a none socialist country where different ideas and opinions are encouraged, respected and not illegal. Think about those guys walking around with camouflage and the importance they carry for protecting those rights. We are far from out of the woods people's just because we rebuild. I personally think about those who step up to the plate to perform the jobs most of us could. Not imagine. I meant to say of course not only guys but women too away from their children. If you think this is a sappy paragraph go try living in another country awhile. I say Merry Christmas.

New Year, I too am grateful to those who defend our rights.
Being a member of this board has taught me a very great deal (compared to what I used to know) about the rest of the world. I have grown to know and love many people on here. At least five of them are avowed atheists, and several more belong to non-Christian religions, to say nothing of the people about whose religious beliefs or lack thereof I know nothing.
My intent was to try and make it plain that this thread would be for various holiday greetings and not restricted just to those who celebrate Christmas.

Greetings for the season and Happy new year to us all!
Edit: a bit late - on the last (penultimate?) day of the season -but heartfelt nevertheless.

do you think you could add some more smiley icons to site? Things like that are strictly up to Anu.
Thanks for the link, Branny.

There are exactly eighteen human emotions and sentiments which can be graphically portrayed as faces, all of which are already available to us. What more could you possibly want? grin

Apparently there are eight basic emotions. I would have thought seven. Everything happens in sevens. There is an interesting wikipe page on this topic.

But they can be fine-tuned up to an indefinite number.
