No idea.

But I do notice they have no trouble finding a list of related ads with links at the bottom of the page!

tsu thank you again for that link, but when I used it inputting the word "button" I got

http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/search.aspx?q=button

...which tells one everything he cold possibly want to know about the button except a synonym

dahil, I don't know how you got there (Bill Gates assisted?), but you're at an encyclopedia page.

I got this for button.

edit: I rescind that statement; I *do know how you got there — there are two search boxes on the page, the one at the top is for Encarta (encyclopedia), the one in the purple area is for the Thesaurus.

tsu thank you once more, if there's a wrong way to do something I will find it

edit: When I go to the Encarta link, I can't find a purple area, but when I go to the last link you provided I only get this error message: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

It's interesting to note, incidentally, this error message recently has come up repeatedly at other sites in other applications. Bill Gates must hate humanity or at least that fraction of humanity not blessed with dogged patience

second edit: But when I tried that link a second time I got the thesaurus, no doubt much to the chagrin of Bill Gates who must have let down his guard at just the wrong moment, but not until I got it safely ensconced amongst my Faves. Thank you again for your help, tact, and patience

Interesting about that thesaurus: "peasant" does not come up as a synonym for farmer, but if you put in "peasant", "farmer" is among the synonyms.. Probably something to do with social rank..

farmer

3. An expert on cooking whose cookbook has undergone many editions (1857-1915).

peasant1. A country person.
2. One of a (chiefly European) class of agricultural laborers.
3. A crude uncouth ill-bred person.

Yes, could be. The farmer being the owner, the peasants the laborers.
