No, I do not reject jheem's word (Excuse ZM , I overlooked the link though I'm not word blind (yet).)
So word blindness does exist as an English word , but it is differently applied. Not for dyslexia. Thanks.

Well, that was a long side step from color blindness , which I can't imagine, not in my worst dreams. Men seem to suffer more from that then women. Or would one not miss what one has never known?

Yes I was probably thinking of alexia or aphasia. Alexia does seem to be the word. I don't think BranShea was asking for a non-technical word, just whether there was another word more specific than dyslexia that covered it.

In hospital we use aphasia to mean the inability to use language. It can be receptive - unable to understand, expressive - unable to speak or global - both. At worst I have met people unable to use pictures or gestures either. Dysphasic indicates a lesser degree of impairment.

Today's word 'tintinnabulate' must be a trial for dyslectics as well as for people who suffer from stuttering and stammering.
It reminds me of one of tsuwm's hogwash words:'tiddledies'.

"The tiddledies were tintinnabulating in the tumbler".

(yes, I was asking about a non technical word for dyslexia, but never mind.)
